prayer requests

Several of our national friends are or have been ill and we especially ask prayer for the following: “Ndege”, the old man who was so gracious to invite us in to his community to bring the word of God is in the hospital receiving treatment for urinary tract problems. He is a very old man and he desires very much to gain knowledge of the Bible. Pray that he will be completely healed and be able to return home soon and resume participation with Charlie and the others as they study God’s word through Bible stories. Their discussions have been some of the best and deepest we have ever experienced with old men.

Next, please pray for the family of a lady called Terenges. She is one of our women who teaches the stories to children. She was the catalyst of the church which meets near her home and has been faithful to hold the group together, especially during the many times they have been without a pastor. Her father is ill with cancer of the throat and although he has been to the hospital, we are doubtful there is much they can do for him here. His sister died of cancer a couple of years ago. Terenges’ husband has left home recently, after striking their 8 month old baby on the head with a club. The baby seemed fine the last time we saw her, but needs prayer that she will not be permanently damaged. You can see an indentation where she was hit; the doctor here examined her and took an x-ray and said the skull was not broken. Again, the medical care is so lacking that we can only pray and ask God to heal and protect. Terenges’ brother is in jail in Nairobi. The family’s resources and hopes are really stretched right now and Terenges herself is obviously affected. She is a very faithful Christian. Please pray for God’s grace, mercy, comfort and encouragement for she and her family during this stressful time. Pray for the healing of the baby and also Terenges’ father.

A PRAISE is in order regarding the storying Eunice has been doing at DB primary school. We have been praying for another teacher to help with the one hour a week we have to teach children. Because there are so many kids at this school, they must divide into 3 groups. With only one teacher, it means the groups rotated and each one was taught every 3rd week. Rather than gaining another teacher, the school has allotted an additional hour for teaching! Now Eunice can teach 2 groups per week. The reason for the addition? The school is so happy with the children’s improvement in their CRE (Christian Religious Education) classes! They say that since they have been getting the stories from Eunice, the children are really doing much better in these classes so they are giving her more time. We are so pleased and pray this news will spread to other schools who will give us more opportunities. Pray for that and also for more qualified women to teach.

Thanks for your prayers, Sandra Daniels
