Update on the Simmons

Dear Friends,
May the Lord bless each of you as you read His Word and follow His commands. May your joy be full in these days.
It has been quite some time since our last major update. I am writing as we face a May 6 deadline concerning our time with the IMB. May 6 has been set as the day that we must decide whether we will take a leave of absence or resign from service for medical reasons. We are still praying about what we should do. Our hope is that the IMB will give us another couple of months to continue pursuing a medical solution to my problems and to pursue a ministry position for the immediate future. We are still praying for a medical solution, not just so we can continue with the IMB, but also because my health problems affect so many areas of our daily lives. To be honest, I would just love to be able to throw the ball with my boys again, and to drive more than just on short trips. We are grateful to God for His abundant grace in these days.
We have sent my resume’ to a number of churches in response to the IMB encouraging us to find a ministry position in a local church. I desire to go back to Kenya, but for now that is not medically possible. God’s path for now is for us continue seeking medical help and to pursue a pastorate or other staff position. We would covet your prayers with regard to this process. I would love to pastor again if God opens that opportunity. We are open to moving anywhere in the States that God might lead.
In the meantime, I have been busy preaching at every opportunity afforded me. We continue to encourage people to surrender to full-time mission service. I am also working out regularly at a local gym in order to regain some of the strength that I have lost in my arms and to continue to rehab my shoulder after my surgery last year. It is a bit humbling to start at the bottom of the weight scale on the machines at the gym, but it is a blessing to be slowly getting stronger.
We are enjoying our time at our home church, Mount Vernon BC in Raleigh, NC. They have been, and continue to be, such an encouragement to our family. They have taken such great care of us in these days. The boys are playing flag football and enjoying other homeschool activities. Nathan is doing well in NY at the Bible Institute and is praying over where to attend next year. We look forward to seeing him soon when he has a break between semesters. He will spend the summer leading young people at the camp that is associated with the college where he attends. Amanda continues to be used of the Lord in the lives of many women. She is such a blessing through her counseling. She also continues to bear so much of the load in our family due to my limitations. She is indeed the most beautiful personal chauffeur that a guy could hope for.
I am indeed blessed to be married to her.
We love y’all and are so grateful for your faithful prayers. Do not cease to pray for the Samburu people in these days. God is calling them to Himself.
Seeking the Lost Until They are Found,
