Prayer Request from the Daniels

Dear Friends and Family,
The Samburu and Turkana have been enemies for generations. But each week a small mixed group meets weekly for prayer at a small, primitive home outside of Maralal in the Turkana section of town. Though the short, young widow who lives here is Samburu, many of the Turkana people have opened up to her and begun to attend. Consequently, she has had great opportunity to pray and witness to them. Some have made professions of faith. Pray for this work of God to continue and for her to have favor with these people. We consider her to be God’s missionary to the Turkana.
For some time, “JL” a Samburu elder, has had a burden to take the gospel to the Pokot. His efforts have been slow as the Pokot are fierce enemies of the Samburu and live in the Rift Valley. To reach them requires a long descent via winding trails by foot or by donkey. While fighting and cattle raiding continues, JL has had meetings with some of the Pokot. He attends the “peace meetings” which have been arranged by elders of both tribes and preaches to the men who come. We are grateful for God’s providence in bringing them near so they can hear His Word. While men may continue fighting and stealing, pray that some will receive the Prince of Peace and others will be impassioned to reach out and evangleize as JL has done.
A young Muslim man seeks the missionary’s help with a project. Although unable to help with the project, an invitation to come speak at the mosque is extended to him.
As they all gather and sit on the ground in front of the mosque, eleven young Muslims hear the message of the Gospel. They are impressed with the missionary’s knowledge of their religion and his easy and understandable way of teaching. The imam is also in attendance. Later, one of the young men will relay that the imam is pleased with the missionary’s manner and method. And then, an amazing thing happens. The young man asks if the missionary will be able to come again and this time to meet with the elders! Pray for the many doors God is opening and for wisdom and faithfulness to boldly walk through them.
Thanks,
Sandra
