3, 2, 1…BLASTOFF
After feeling sidelined for a little while by the knee surgery and
recovery, it seems like everything is now going ahead at rocket speed.
Charlie has a full schedule of places to go and people to see each week. He
is still receiving invitations to new communities as people hear what is
going on and want to be involved. There are two large areas
where things are going well as elders are taking a more active role in
bringing the news of God and establishing churches. Many of these have begun
somewhat spontaneously, and without any urging on our part. This is one of
the marks of an indigenous movement and a primary goal in our strategy for
starting churches. It is Samburu Baptists who are encouraging and teaching
groups how to begin. They are doing the initial work of evangelism and have
had good response. Charlie follows up with discipleship and leadership
training. Because of the administrative gifts of a couple of our men,
Charlie is meeting with leaders in several centralized locations each week.
Most of these are quite new. Please give your prayer support for the
faithfulness, spiritual growth and maturity of the young churches and their
leaders.
As drought has continued, we will undertake another feeding project in
early August. Every day Charlie is met with hungry people and requests for
help. A woman fell down from hunger in one of his groups this week. Cows are
dying everywhere. Pray for rain.
