I bet this is one day you forgot to celebrate. I didnt even know it existed except that our politician friend who runs the Good Samaritan Home for the Aged in Maralal told us. And so we spent October 1st celebrating the installation of some beds and blankets donated by my mom and dads church in Texas. This man continues to spend money from his business earning s to help the elderly and some of their orphaned grandchildren. The day was a typical celebration involving speeches, singing, preaching and food. It was a privilege to be allowed to cut the ribbon to the bedrooms and see the men and women who would now have soft, warm comfortable beds to sleep in. While we sat during the speeches and singing, I looked around at so many faces and bodies and thought, These could be my parents. While some are merely old and alone, others suffer from dementia, arthritis and various undiagnosed neuromuscular diseases. I praise God that my parents are not alone, nor are they ill with undiagnosed, untreated illnesses. I am always saying you cant choose where you are born. None of us deserves the care and protection afforded to us in the country in which we have been placed. It is the grace and gift of God alone. Be thankful and be mindful or those who do not share the same benefit.
