Brand new church, built by the villagers who live there. Inside the church. The man in yellow has been the key to starting at least 10 churches this year. Each church has started a nursery school for 3-5 year olds. One has also started a "shepherd" school for the older children who work watching flocks during the day.
Travis arrives up in the village. One of the elders in the village. The man waving the stick is praying. If you look closely to the woman in the background, she is holding her hand palm upwards and clenching them. This is a traditional way of praying. Frequently during the prayer they will say "N'kai" or God and close their fists as if to catch or hold God.
11 new believers were baptized in this small hole. The water is not even knee deep. They barely had enough to cover them. This guy looks kinda bored. The white one.
Kenyans in Nairobi can't imagine why we live up here in Samburu district. They haven't been here! Beautiful. Travis and friends pose with lunch. Kids at shepherd school. They work all day tending the flocks, come home and race to school for 2 hours from about 7 to 9pm.
This girl is teaching the shepherds Swahili. Kids singing worship songs at shepherd school. Boys are in the front here, girls are in the back with the beads on. Ages range from about 8 up to maybe 15.
